As a church we feel called to take part in the Mission of God. We want to show all people a picture of the love that Jesus has shown us and offers to the entire world. We recognize this calls us to be on mission in Gatesville, across Texas, and around the world.

The Care Center Ministry provides an opportunity for FBC to share their time and fellowship with the Gatesville community by working at the local food and clothing bank. The Care Center is a source of food, clothing, kitchen and home items, baby items and more to low-income and needy people in the community. Church volunteers work at the Center on the third Wednesday of every month anytime between the hours of 9:30am to 3:00pm. Church volunteers sort clothing, place clothes and other items out in the store, box food, and help load supplies that customers select. This ministry also provides a chance for FBC Gatesville to share God’s message and love to individuals who are on probation for minor law violations, who are doing court-ordered community service at the Care Center. The ministry is a good example of how our Church is working for God outside the walls of the church.

Feed the Hornets
The purpose of the “Feed the Hornets” mission effort is to provide Gatesville ISD varsity football players a filling and nutritious meal before home football games. Some of the local football players do not have the opportunity to have a nourishing meal at home prior to the football game; FBC stepped-in to provide healthful food and friendship. The church members who cook and serve strive to be role models for these young men by showing acts of service and Christian fellowship.

Fill the Book Bags
The “Fill the Book Bags” Project provides school supplies and book bags in August to Gatesville ISD children in need. Contact is made with campus principals’ asking if assistance is needed so that no child goes without school supplies. When the specific needs are made known to the church members, supplies and money are donated towards this mission effort. Book bags and supplies are bought, and taken to the campuses identifying the needs. FBC wants to help ensure that children in our local school district have needed supplies and materials in order to be successful in school.

We desire to show the love of God, through words and actions, to our city. We encourage each member of First Baptist to love the people around them every day. This drives us as a church to find selfless ways to be involved in the community. We are always working to be involved in community events like Spurfest, Boozar, and the Christmas Parade as well as create community events like the Live Nativity. We have joined the Gatesville Chamber of Commerce in order to be more engaged in our community. We also encourage people to pray for their neighbors through the Pray 4 Every Home initiative.

Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse)
The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. A small shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal. FBC has been a part of changing children’s lives all over the world in Jesus’ name through the power of a simple box filled with gifts for a boy or a girl.
