People participating in small groups do a lot of things together. They study God’s word, pray, worship, fellowship, and reach out and minister to others.
If you are in a small group now, you can stay in the same group, or you can change to a new one. if you are not in a small group, I encourage you to join one. You will be blessed!!
And remember that you do not have to be a member of FBC Gatesville to participate. Feel free to invite your friends, family, and others in our community to join one of our Small Groups.
The Small Group Ministry of First Baptist Church Gatesville began in 2010 striving to follow Acts 2:42-47.
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
These verses highlight six benefits of small groups:
1. Discipleship – strive to be more like Christ.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching.” Acts 2:42
2. Prayer – pray for each other in the group and for others outside the group.
“They devoted themselves…to prayer.” Acts 2:42
3. Ministry – ministry to other believers.
“They gave to anyone as he had a need.” Acts 2:45
4. Worship – surrender to Christ.
“Everyone was filled with awe.” Acts 2:43
5. Fellowship – connect with other folks.
“Every day they continued to meet together in temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” Acts 2:46
6. Evangelism – reach out to unbelievers.
“And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:47
The first and third Sunday nights of each month are the designated times for adult small groups to meet. Groups meet at church or various homes of group members. The youth small group generally meets on the second and fourth Sunday nights of each month.
